Winning treble for farm business at award night

A FARMING-related business has won a top accolade, and two other business awards for its commitment to training.

Cornwall Farmers was presented with the overall Business Excellence Training Award at the awards, hosted by Cornwall College Business.

It also came first in the outstanding commitment to training and commitment to staff development category.

In February last year Cornwall Farmers' retail division started a major training initiative involving its 170 retail staff, which was developed in partnership with Cornwall College Business and Cornwall Retail Skills.

It implemented its Acorn Professional Development programme and as a result the business achieved increases in sales and better customer satisfaction.

Dave Linnell OBE, principal of Cornwall College, said: "I would like to congratulate all of the winners and nominees on behalf of everyone at Cornwall College Business.

"The awards allow us to highlight what can be achieved through commitment to development and training."

Other winners included businesses TRAC Services, Terry Harris and Sons, Tulip Foods, Pall Newquay, Flying Start, Debbie Luffman from Finisterre, and Liam Chinn from Fit 'n' Fun Kids.

The awards, which were supported by Sarah Morris, from the Confederation of British Industry (CBI), Cornwall and Devon Media, parent company of the Cornish Guardian, and Pirate FM.
