Digital art firm's new venture
Artgazer, set up by artist Deborah Alexander in May last year, offers high-quality, limited edition prints of digital art.
The Loddiswell-based company has introduced new T-shirt and greetings card ranges as a way of making art more accessible for those struggling during the downturn.
In 2006, Deborah took voluntary redundancy from her job as a civil servant at the age of 49.
She had always seen art as a hobby and decided to put some more time into it.
Deborah said that having spent much of her working life using computers, she decided to see how they could be used to create art.
"I use the skills that I would use in conventional art, but I have become more adventurous. I know that if I make a mistake, it's not the end of the world, which gives me huge freedom," she said. The business sells much of its wares from its online shop at www.artgazer.co.uk and Deborah is also due to exhibit at the county's largest visual art event, Devon Open Studios, which runs from September 5–20 in 111 locations across the county.
