The stretch of motorway running past the city fuels depression on a daily basis, according to the new study of 3,000 road users.
It came fourth in a list of the nation's roads most likely to bring on the blues in research carried out by leading bikers' bible Motorcycle News (MCN). This "driving despair" is believed to lead to millions of accidents every year.
Respondents revealed the main aggravations are potholes (65 per cent) and traffic jams (61 per cent).
The UK's top five most depressing roads are the M25, the M6 along the Birmingham stretch, the A1 Holloway Road, London, the M5 near Bristol and the M8 between Glasgow and Edinburgh.
