Wave Hub HQ will be in Hayle

Thursday, July 29, 2010, 09:00

THE HEADQUARTERS of the £42 million Wave Hub project will be in Hayle.

Property consultants Alder King has let a ground floor office in John Harvey House in Foundry Square to the South West Regional Development Agency (SWRDA).

SWRDA has taken out a five-year lease on the premises at an annual rent of £11,700.

The office will be used to support the Wave Hub project, which will create an electrical "socket" on the seabed in 50m of water around 16km (10 miles) off the coast of Hayle.

It will be connected to the National Grid via a sub-sea cable.

Wave energy devices will be connected to the hub and float on or just below the surface of the sea to assess how well they work and how much power they generate, before being commercially produced and deployed.
