Cornish-based creative business crosses the Atlantic
The Day That offers a product that is unique anywhere in the world. Every single morning since June 2005, its team of gifted photographers have taken pictures of the dawn rising over the coastline of West Cornwall. These images can then be seen at www.thedaythat.co.uk.
They are mounted, framed and hand inscribed with a personal message, making them a very special commemorative gift, perfect for births, christenings, weddings, special birthdays, indeed any milestone moment in a person's life.
Marketing Director Kerensa Beer-Robson explains why this small business has taken the step to expand into the USA.
"We have increasingly been receiving orders and interest from different parts of the world, from people who have found us on the Internet, so we realised that there was potential to grow into foreign territories.
"America seemed the natural place to begin. Americans have a strong gift giving culture with many international greeting products companies starting off there and now dominating that market world wide."
There is now a US team of three photographers on board there and a production facility has been set up operating out of the Virginia area.
The website www.thedaythat.com, launching on January 25th, has been developed by Nixon Design back here in Hayle.
The US photographers began taking photographs on January 1st this year. However the library of Cornish images will also be available to US customers.
Photographs in the USA are being taken around the Chesapeake Bay, an area chosen not only for it's natural beauty but also it's significance in the history of the birth of the American nation.
The Day That's expansion programmes back here in the UK, have benefitted with support from Business Link, SW RDA and the European Convergence Fund.
