Gin company offering £20,000 for specialist 'gintern' is inundated with applications

A gin company that offered to pay £20,000 to a specialist 'gintern' has been so inundated with applications that the post still lies vacant.

More than 4,000 gin lovers from around the UK applied for the dream job which would see a gin taster travelling around the UK and Europe, giving feedback on the latest craft gins and mixers.

Applications for the dream role closed on September 16 this year but due to overwhelming demand, website ILoveGin has been forced to delay making an appointment until the New Year.

Do you think you can recognise a stand-out G&T?

ILoveGin said: "We were so overwhelmed with demand, over 4,000 applicants, that we couldn't work through them all before Christmas.

"We're looking to re-start the (vetting) process and hire someone in early 2017.

"We're looking for an enthusiastic gin-loving intern - 'Gintern' as we like to call it - who will be happy to spend their days trying new gins, new mixers, finding new brands to work with, visiting distilleries, pairing gins and "ginspiring" us with their new-found knowledge.

"The Gintern will get to travel around the UK and parts of Europe discovering new gins to work with and, of course, sampling them."
