Rajpoot head chef urges diners to try his new Indian restaurant Mughal Palace in Longwell Green Read

The award-winning head chef of what was one of Bath's favourite curry houses has implored customers to try his new restaurant.

Muhammad Abdumiah Talukdar joined city centre Indian restaurant Rajpoot as a chef when he was just a teenager and cooked there for 18 years until it closed last Christmas Eve.

Now he has revealed plans to open a 95-seat restaurant in Longwell Green.

He will become the head chef of Mughal Palace and run it with his former Rajpoot colleague Syed Jahangir Haque.

Mr Talukdar is promising Rajpoot house specials such as chicken jalfrezi and lamb regala will be on the menu when it opens at the end of this month.

"There are lots of customers who asked, 'why are you going to close it?' because they liked my curry," he said.

"So I'm going to do similar curry [at Mughal Palace] and they will be happy with it."

Mr Talukdar, who received a Tiffin Cup award for the best South Asian restaurant in the region on behalf of Rajpoot last year, invited former customers of the restaurant in Argyle Street to try his new curry house.

"We would like to invite all our old customers to come there.

"Definitely they will come, they love our curry."

The duo will be joined by Rajpoot waiter Robin and Rufa, a cook.

Mughal Palace will have its own car park where diners can park for free.

Mr Talukdar said he has been wished well in the new venture by Rajpoot owner Ahmed Chowdhury.
