Bristol one of the 'best cities' to run a business, says BBC Apprentice winner Mark Wright

Mark Wright, former Apprentice winner and director of digital company Climb Online, explains why Bristol is a great city for doing business

Sourcing a suitable location for your business is no mean feat.

Whether you are just starting out or you’re an established brand, there are many things to consider.

Ultimately, you have to make sure you are best placed for your customers and clients, that there are excellent transport links for your staff, not forgetting a great pool of talent to choose from.

That’s why I’m not surprised Bristol is regularly included in top ten lists for being one of the best places to live, work or play.

Most recently, the City was named as one of the top ten places to launch a business; and after expanding Climb Online to Bristol over 18 months ago, our success and experience backs up the poll’s findings.

Bristol has a clear sense of identity that sets it apart from other areas of the UK, and part of the reason we decided to open our first out of London office in Bristol, is the fact the city reflects the Climb Online ethos perfectly – innovative, vibrant and driven.

Since launching Climb Online South West in October 2016, the agency has turned over in excess of £1 Million in sales, where our ethos of ‘If you grow, we grow’ has aided the development of many South West based businesses through effective digital marketing strategies.

And we’re certainly not alone in enjoying all that Bristol has to offer.

A flourishing business community teeming with a highly-skilled workforce sees a variety of industries rub shoulders with one another; from aerospace and technical industries to retail, creative media and construction.

Helping to boost this thriving talent pool are graduates from the Bristol Business School.

Ultimately, it is inspiring to be a part of that community and we enjoy the infectious energy this diverse mix of businesses creates.

Despite the country facing tough times and economic uncertainty, Bristol’s economy is outpacing the rest of the UK while its booming housing market is proof that this is an extremely desirable area.

While it is growing and bustling, it still manages to retain its sense of individuality. For many businesses, Bristol should tick all the right boxes; and for Climb Online we are in no doubt it will continue to be a place of growth and success.
