Bristol's Broadmead BID appoints new head

The Bristol Broadmead Business Improvement District (BID) has appointed a new manager.

Steve Bluff will suceed Jo Hawkins, who is now developing a new BID for the Redcliffe area of the city.

After relocating from London in the mid-1990s with House of Fraser, Steve managed the Dingles department store in Clifton and later took up the role of general manager for House of Fraser store in Broadmead.

He has been an active member of the Broadmead board, supporting the plans to redevelop the city centre shopping experience.

He said: “It is a very exciting time to join the team in Bristol as the Broadmead BID - one of the oldest in the country - is now in its fourth term following a resounding ‘yes’ vote in 2018 from the retailers to continue the BID until 2023.

We aim to do even more to build on the successes achieved and help the shopping quarter become an even more important destination within our wonderful city.

“Broadmead and the whole of the Bristol shopping quarter is so diverse with an incredible mix of wonderful shops and cafes and things to do, it really does have something to offer everyone.

"I have seen so many improvements to the look and feel of the area as a visitor and shopper over the 20+ years I have lived in Bristol and I think we all should be proud of the achievements so far and look forward to even better things to come.”

Steve took up his new role in January and has spent the first six weeks getting to know the retailers in the Broadmead BID area, which encompasses The Arcade and The Galleries as well as Broadmead itself and surrounding streets including Bond Street, Fairfax Street, Merchant Street, Nelson Street, and The Horsefair.

Bristol Shopping Quarter, which also includes Cabot Circus, is also part of the BID.
