Gloucestershire Business Show under way at The Centaur, Cheltenham Racecourse

Organisers of the inaugural Gloucestershire Business Show hope more than 2,000 people will visit the event over its two days.

An estimated 1,200 had passed through the exhibition hall at The Centaur at Cheltenham Racecourse by lunchtime after it got under way today.

Around 130 organisations were putting themselves in the shop window with exhibition stands at the venue.

Antonia Coles, co-director of the show, said: “It’s been really buzzing - people have been doing business and having conversations.

“As a first we’re really pleased.”

Among organisations exhibiting was GFirst LEP, Gloucestershire’s Local Enterprise Partnership, which is a partner in the event.

GFirst LEP’s marketing team leader, Katy McCarthy, said the show enabled it to promote the work of its sector groups

“That’s something we really wanted to push out there,” she explained.

“We absolutely welcome a show like this,” she added.

Suzanne Hall-Gibbins, director of another partner organisation exhibiting, Circle2Success, said she had spoken to more than 20 visitors to its stand.

She added: “For us it’s just making sure we’re part of the business community so being here as an exhibitor is being part of the business community and raising our profile.”

Sam Holliday, development manager of the FSB (Federation of Small Business) for Gloucestershire and West of England, said: “It’s great to see so many diverse businesses and business groups from across the county joining forces to highlight what an incredible county this is for business of all sizes and any sector.”
