New post sees retail liaison officer start in Gloucestershire shopping centre

A Cheltenham shopping centre has welcomed a new member of the team.

Regent Arcade has appointed Kat Mabbott to its newly created post of retail liaison officer working as the store managers’ point of contact within the centre management team. She will also be responsible for the centre’s social media.

Kat, 25, is no stranger to the retail environment. Originally from Swindon, she joined leading High Street fashion retailer H & M seven years ago and was part of the elite mobile team chosen to open the company’s flagship Cheltenham store in 2013.

She liked Cheltenham so much she decided to stay on after H & M opened at Regent Arcade and for the past four years has been part of their visual merchandising team.

Ready for a new challenge, when she heard there was a vacancy in the centre management team she applied.

Kat said: “I just love everything about retail and can’t imagine doing anything else. Doing something different but staying within retail really appealed to me. I have a lot of shop floor experience and as a big part of my job at H&M involved working with figures and statistics the centre management role seemed an exciting and logical next step for me. There is a lot more to visual merchandising than just creating pretty windows!

“Having worked in the Regent Arcade for the past four years I have a good understanding of the retail environment here. I am really looking forward to life on the other side of the fence and seeing how different businesses run.

“My aim is to work with tenants to sort out any issues quickly and help them trade to their best ability offering assistance and advice when needed.”

Regent Arcade centre manager Scott Lahive said: “We’re delighted that Kat has chosen to join the management team for the next phase of her career. She brings with her a huge amount of retail experience and is already a familiar face to many of our tenants.

"Customer service is paramount. As a management team we serve two distinct groups of customers - the public who come here to shop - and the retailers who have chosen Regent Arcade as their Cheltenham location. We pride ourselves on building excellent relationships with our tenants and this appointment underlines our commitment to that.”
