New stadium would be 'game changer' for county says sponsors Bruton Knowles

Property consultancy Bruton Knowles will sponsor Forest Green Rovers’ home game against Exeter City on September 9.

The commercial property firm has extended its sponsorship of the newly promoted club  – and of striker Christian Doidge - into the 2017/18 season.

Doidge had an outstanding season in the National League, leading the club to promotion with 27 goals, before signing a new contract extension this summer.

Dorian Wragg, a commercial partner at Bruton Knowles’ Gloucester office, said Forest Green Rovers’ promotion to League Two underlined the Nailsworth-based team’s need for a brand new stadium and improved facilities.

He said: “We are really proud to be match sponsor for Forest Green’s fixture against Exeter City. Forest Green’s promotion to the Football League adds impetus to Ecotricity’s hugely ambitious plans for their new stadium and reinforces their case for improvements both on and off the pitch.

“The team’s achievement will provide a welcome boost to Ecotricity’s vision of a Gateway to Stroud incorporating an Eco Park Green Technology Hub, road improvements to the A419 from J13 of the M5 and a new all-wood stadium for Forest Green Rovers.”

"Game changer"

Ecotricity has applied to Stroud District Council for outline planning permission for the development and has high hopes this will be granted.

Dorian added: “If approved, the plans could be a game changer not just for Forest Green and Nailsworth but for the whole of Gloucestershire. We are absolutely delighted for the team and the club and are right behind their vision of operating a local football team on a national stage without compromising their environmental credentials.”

Paula Brown, commercial manager at Forest Green Rovers, said: “The support of local companies like Bruton Knowles is incredibly valuable to us as a club, especially in this historic year for the club as we celebrate our first year in the Football League and look to make steps towards our new home at Eco Park.”
