Major plumbing firm acquires Gloucestershire-based WJL Electrical Services

Plumbing and heating expert Shackleton & Wintle has acquired WJL Electrical Services to form a major force in the Gloucestershire construction industry.

Established in 1978, Shackleton & Wintle employs 120 staff at its headquarters in Old Station Drive, Leckhampton, Cheltenham, and its “ever-increasing client base” includes a number of national housebuilders.

It provides services to domestic and commercial customers across the region in Gloucestershire, Hereford, Worcester, Swindon, Oxford and Bristol.

WJL Electrical Services, which is based nearby in Mead Road, Leckhampton, has been in business for 14 years and carries out work on domestic and commercial properties in Cheltenham, Gloucester, Tewkesbury, Cirencester and Stroud.

WJL is headed up by managing director Wesley Lane, who will remain at the forefront of the business following the acquisition by Shackleton & Wintle.

In combining the expertise of both companies, Shackleton & Wintle is confident the high-quality service provided to customers will be improved again as a result.

Robin Heffter, Shackleton & Wintle directors, said: “We believe it’s a definite win-win situation for the two companies and customers.

“Our experience in the plumbing and heating industry combined with the electrical expertise of WJL means customers will now enjoy a one-stop solution to their domestic and commercial needs.

“For landlords and letting agents, for instance, we can send in one of our plumbers and electricians at the same time.

“It’s more convenient to them and also easier for the tenant.”

John Rogers, also a director at Shackleton & Wintle, said: “We’re absolutely delighted that Wes will remain at the helm at WJL and we look forward to working with him and growing both companies over the coming years.”

Mr Lane said: “I’m extremely excited about this association with Shackleton & Wintle and I’m sure it’s going to prove a big success for both parties.

“I’ve known Robin and John for some time and I’ve always been impressed with them and their team and the way that Shackleton & Wintle operate with the same ethos and hard work as ourselves.

“It’s a fantastic opportunity for the two businesses to share our respective expertise, expand our client base and provide a great service to customers.”
