Digital learning company Sponge opens Bristol office

Sponge, the digital learning company, has opened an office in Bristol.

The business, which turned over £5.2million in 2017, will be based at City Point by Temple Gate.

Louise Pasterfield, founder and managing director of Sponge, says she chose Bristol because of the city's reputation as a “thriving digital and creative hub” and the availability of skilled employees.

She said: “We were immediately drawn to what Bristol has to offer.

“It has been named as a globally significant tech cluster and it is home to a number of world-class creative companies. Bristol aligns completely with how we work at Sponge.

“We use creativity and innovation to help people learn and grow and to help businesses succeed.

"We are very much looking forward to growing our presence here in the years to come.”

Last year, the company’s turnover grew by 50 per cent, allowing the creation of 40 additional jobs.

Now with 110 employees, Sponge is the largest employer in custom-digital learning in South West England.

Clients include Coca-Cola, BMW, adidas, Marks & Spencer, Tesco, Royal Mail, AstraZeneca, Specsavers, and AXA.

The business is expecting to turn over in excess of £7.5million in 2018.

Established in 2004, Sponge is headquartered in Plymouth and also has offices in London, Nottingham and Dublin – the latter two were opened in December 2017 and January this year.

Sponge is currently advertising for learning designers, project managers and developers in Bristol.
