Accolade Wines named UK manufacturer of the year

Accolade Wines, a Bristol manufacturing and distribution company, has been named UK manufacturer of the year.

The Australian-headquarted business, which has a UK bottling facility in Avonmouth, scooped the award at the Manufacturing Excellence awards.

Accolade Park in Bristol is Europe’s largest wine warehouse and distribution centre.

Richard Lloyd, general manager for European operations and supply chain at Accolade Wines, said: “I cannot tell you the pride and the euphoria.

"We are so grateful for manufacturing and so proud. The emotions I feel now will be carried by everyone else in the business.”

Matt Rooney, engineering policy adviser at the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, added: “Manufacturing is one of the major drivers of our economy and in order to remain so, the sector will need to adapt to a fast-changing technological landscape.”

"Congratulations to the winners. Everyone who took part is a great credit to the manufacturing industry and the UK engineering profession.”

Accolade Park employs more than 500 people and produces 25 million nine-litre-case equivalents of wine each year.
