Deals continue to drive business for leading Gloucestershire accountancy firm Hazlewoods with its corporate finance team announcing a record year as a result.

Staverton-headquartered Hazlewoods said despite the disruption of a general election and continued uncertainty around the terms of Britain’s departure from the EU deals continued apace.

The 12 months to the end of December 2017 was a record year for the firm and saw it advise on 159 completed transactions valued at £843 million, as compared to 119 completed deals valued at £512 million in 2016.

The increase in deal flow led to expansion at the firm with further investment taking the corporate finance team to 26, including six Partners.

Paul Fussell, Hazlewoods corporate finance partner, said: “We are delighted to have supported so many of our clients through what are often exciting times.

“The volume of completed transactions demonstrates strength in the market, with vendors and acquirers continuing to pursue opportunities.

“While we are yet to fully appreciate the impact of Britain’s departure from the EU on the wider economic outlook, current signs are that business activity is set to continue, with the number of enquiries suggesting that 2018 will be another busy year."

Hazlewoods provide specialist advice to small and mid-market businesses on a wide range of transactions.

Its corporate finance team provides a range of services, including merger and acquisitions, due diligence, business valuations and equity market admissions.
