Bakers Dolphin celebrates 290 years of employee service

South West coach company Bakers Dolphin is celebrating 290 years of combined service by its employees.

The Weston-super-Mare-based company has handed out awards recognising the contributions that long-serving staff members have made.

Awards were given for 10, 15, 20, 25, 35 and 40 years of service and staff, along with Bakers Dolphin management, celebrated with a meal at Duets Restaurant in Weston.

Amanda Harrington, sales and marketing director, said: “We’re immensely grateful to our remarkable staff who go above and beyond to ensure our customers enjoy memorable holidays and trips every time.

“Our Long Service Awards recognise and acknowledge in a small way the huge impact our staff make to the success of the business and we’re pleased that so many people decide to stay with us for many, many years, sometimes for their whole career.

"We’re like a family at Bakers Dolphin and we’re very proud of everyone’s individual and combined achievements.”

Among those awarded was Richard Peach, who has been a driver at Bakers Dolphin for 40 years. Richard has clocked up over one million miles driving for Bakers Dolphin since joining “for a season”.

He said: “Each trip is like a big adventure really, because you never know what’s going to happen next. I’ve had laughs along the way and made many friends, who regularly come on my trips.”

Driver David Pople was also recognised for 35 years’ service, while chief engineer Mark Vearncombe, sales executive Fiona Callaghan, reservations manager Lynda Frisby and operations director Max Fletcher were acknowledged for 25 years’ service.

Andy Guise and Julie Whiterod were rewarded for 20 years’ service while drivers Antonia Tipping, Robin Knibbs and Lucy Cowgill,  all received awards for spending 15 years at the firm.

Mandy Havill, Kathy Knibbs and Dave Cornelius were recognised for 10 years' service.
